The Polk County Sheriff's Office is contracted with eleven companies throughout Polk County to provide patrol, and enforce laws upon their land. Currently the Sheriff's Office has one full time Deputy that devotes 40 hours per week and travels approximately 100 miles in an 8-hour day.
The Sheriff's Office started contracting with the following companies in 1996; Willamette Industries, Boise Cascade, Starker Forests, Stimson Lumber, Rosboro Lumber, Georgia Pacific, Hampton Tree Farms, Miami Corp, OSU Research Forests, Oregon Dept of Forestry and Simpson Lumber. T
The Forestry Deputy responds to a variety of different calls ranging from motor vehicle accident, criminal trespass complaints to criminal mischief complaints. The Forestry Deputy also works closely with outside agencies such as Benton County Sheriff's Office, Department of Justice, and works closely with the Oregon State Police on enforcing game violations.
The Forestry Deputy is also one of the Search & Rescue Coordinators who are in charge of putting together search teams for lost and or missing hunters, mushroom pickers, and the outdoor enthusiasts.
The Forestry Deputy assists with the Marijuana Eradication program, which is comprised of the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the Oregon Army National Guard, the Point Team, and is funded by the Department of Justice.
